General Notes: John was born in New Haven, Connecticut and ended up settling in Tipperary, Ireland with his family around 1658. He became the manager of the Hutchinson Estate at Knocklofty with whom he was related through one of his gt- grandmothers and also through his wife Elizabeth Riall. He was a member of the Presbyterian Dissenting communtiy along with the Riall family.
John invested in lands in New England, specifically West Jersey, now known as new Jersey. It is also thought he spent some time in Chester, Pennsylvania although this hasn't been proven. These lands are bequeathed to his son John in his will of 1710 but it is unknown what happened to them afterwards.

General Notes: - As eldest son and heir it would appear that Richard may not have been on best terms with his father or perhaps he was paid his inheritance in advance as he is barely mentioned in his father's will. It is noted that he had studied at Middle Temple and is to be paid 500 Pounds after his father's death (according to the will of 1710) 2nd son John inherits Woodruffe and the other brothers all inherit land and money.
Richard died around 1722 an is noted in an Extract of Bethams Perogative Admons from that year and in a legal opinion from May 1, 1747 it notes Richard had died intestate.
Richard married Elizabeth VAUGHAN widow of Phineas Riall, daughter of William VAUGHAN and Elizabeth, on 2 Feb 1709.5 Elizabeth died in 1723.

What happened to these lands? Did he perhaps have some illegitmate offspring in the US? Various descendants of the PEERY family claim to descend from him although it is certain he lived and died in Tipperary.

General Notes: In her father's Will of 1710 Rebecca is referred to as Rebecca Pyke. It appears she was unmarried at this time and "Pyke" is likely a second name. There is a relartionship between the Perry and Pyke families as indicated in several wills and land deeds but exactly how they are related is unknown. Her father John invested in lands in New Jersey with John Pyke, who also lived in Tipperary, and they were obviously friends if not relatives.
Rebecca likely married Robert Browne but this is just an educated guess as all her sister's husbands have been identified and Rebecca is the only daughter remaining. It is certain that one of the girls married this Robert Browne.

This John is not listed in Burke's Landed Gentry at all although his brother's and their descendant's are. He also hadn't died as a child and he was likely "of age" - at least 18 - when he was mentioned in the deed with his father in 1743. Why is he omitted from the family records and pedigrees?
What happened to him? Was he disowned for some reason or may he even be the John Perry who shows up at Kilboy in the 1760s and marries Mary Hughes?

Scene at an attemped eviction-An extraordinary scene occurred at Curranstown, near Clonmel, on Saturday afternoon, when a Sheriff's party and a force of Police attended to carry out an eviction for non-payment of rent on the estate of Samuel Perry, deputy-lieutenant, against a tenant farmer named Fahey. The farm is an extensive one, and the buildings thereon have been recently erected at considerable cost. The house was strongly barricaded, and was held by a numerous party who threw boiling water and
lime on the Sheriff's party when they endeavoured to effect an entrance. Two of the Bailiff's were seriously injured. A large crowd was present, and it was not deemed prudent to make any arrests. The eviction was eventually abandoned.
Follow up to the above. 24-4-1895
Yesterday the widow Fahy and her three sisters, who were arrested on the charge of assaulting the Sheriff's party at an attempted eviction on the Perry estate near Clonmel, was brough before Colonel Evanson. R.M.
District-Inspector Shoveller prosecuted on behalf of the crown. The evidence of the two bailiffs, Daniel Ryan and Thomas Shea was taken at their residences, as they were both still confined to their beds. Dr. Hewitson said the Bailiff Ryan had two serious scalp wounds, and he would not certify his life to be out of danger, as erysipelas might set in. The other Bailiff was likely to lose his sight. The prisoners were remanded for a week, bail being refused. The prisoners were loudly cheered when passing through the
streets.
